Word on the Street
We were the first people to stay at the “Getaway House” in Flansham, West Sussex and so we were expecting a few teething problems with the place but I’m pleased to say we were delighted with our stay here.
It is so very difficult getting a place that sleeps 14+ but this beautiful house with its added-on annexe and stable room sleeps many more people than we needed. We had four generations staying here and the great grandparents were very comfortable in the annexe where they could hide-away when the younger members of the family got a little loud and boisterous. It consists of a double/twin-bedded bedroom, a really comfortable living room area and a well-equipped kitchen; all of which suited my parents wonderfully.
The main house is tastefully furnished and carpeted in all the bedrooms and lounge (though I am unsure I would have chosen a cream carpet myself – I hope that works out ok for the owners and cleaners!) All of the bedrooms are really well thought out and many have ensuite shower and/or bath rooms – over three floors.
The problem with a lot of places this size is that it caters for enough people bedroom-wise but you cannot get everyone round the dining room table or all in the lounge. However, no such worries here - we all had dinner together every night round the massive bespoke-made wooden table and played games far into the evening (often until next morning!) in the main lounge. That or we were up in the cinema room watching a film together – well those of us who could manage the extra hours/less sleep! It is a great extra addition to the house to watch Sky or Netflix up in the attic cinema and was much appreciated. As was the games room where we played darts, pool and table tennis. Also the kids play room was in constant use by the great grandchildren (and also by their parents when they wanted to play golf, bowling or dance via the wii they had brought with them!)
This and the outside facilities – particularly for the children are great. Unfortunately, the fact that the weather wasn’t always great and/or we were out for those parts of the day when the weather was its nicest, meant that we didn’t use the outside facilities anywhere near as we would have if we had holidayed in the summer (we were there in late October).
All this and the fact that there were so many interesting things to see nearby meant that this was a very special holiday for me and my family. We most certainly hope to return to this very comfortable and beautiful house in the very near future.

We had a fantastic stay in the Getaway House as a group of 8 adults, 5 kids and our dog over the Christmas period.
The house was fantastic and would easily accommodate a larger group. The cinema room was particularly popular with our kids.
Joe and Bex, our hosts, were very helpful and welcoming. We'd certainly be happy to recommend a stay here.

I just wanted to say what a wonderful weekend we had in your beautiful beautiful house ! It was just perfect in everyway , we couldn’t have asked for more and the weather was so kind to us , my Mum was blown away !!
The house offered something to every age group with space to take time out if needed . I can’t thankyou enough for all your communications back and forth to make our stay so perfect !

The Getaway house is a superb property in a great location. Joe and Bex have thought of everything. The open plan kitchen/dining area is a great space, as well as the outdoor space for the kids. We had 5 children ranging from 1 to 4 year old and we had everything we needed. With the playroom, garden area, bedrooms and number of bathrooms, can't ask for more. Its a 5-10 min drive from bognor coast which we were also able to take advantage of on our stay. The communication was excellent throughout the lead up to our stay. Joe is really responsive and helpful with any queries. Our group are already trying to plan our next stay at the getaway house!
